Robert P. Laney
Through extensive experience in the legal industry, I know that being in the situation that led you to need a lawyer can be trying and stressful. Whatever the reason, be it a potential bankruptcy, divorce, or criminal charge, I am here to help.
I have been practicing law since 1977. With these extensive years of experience, I have helped many clients, such as yourself to be successful in court litigation, mediation conferences, and settlement negotiations. I am faithfully committed to acting in your best interest, and can truly help you through this difficult time.
My formal educational experience includes graduation from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor’s in Economics, and later, graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law with a Juris Doctor.
I have the confidence of many other attorneys, bankers, accountants, and realtors in northwest North Carolina. I regularly receive referrals from these professionals to handle bankruptcy cases, particularly the larger, more complex matters. I represent both debtors and creditors.
I have, for many years, taken a large number of hours of Continuing Legal Education in bankruptcy. I have obtained discharges for debtors and payments for creditors in all types of bankruptcies, including Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13. I have handled many multi-million dollar cases. In the recent past, he was able to obtain a Chapter 7 discharge for a debtor owing $63 million.
I have obtained confirmed plans in all the plan types of bankruptcy, including Chapter 11 corporate reorganizations, Chapter 12 farmer reorganizations, and Chapter 13 wage earner plans. In the recent past, he was able to obtain confirmed Chapter 11 reorganization plans for a church in Catawba County, a Christmas tree and tobacco farmer in Ashe County, and a dentist in Catawba County.
I represent creditors, including Yadkin Bank, High Country Bank, Highlands Union Bank, Johnson County Bank, Grayson National Bank, and Blevins Building Supply.
I give full service at the first conference. Having completed one meeting, the clients will have a detailed analysis of their business and personal budgets. I will factor in goals and problems in the areas of domestic law, employment, contracts, real estate, vehicle titles, liens, and anything else of concern. I will then advise you on all options, including all chapters of bankruptcy, sales of assets, changes in employment, liquidation or expansion of businesses, and domestic re-arrangements.
I will give the fullest possible service for the smallest practical fee. I have had had many hundreds of clients tell him that they wish they had talked to me months earlier, so they could have saved wasted payments or avoided other legal or financial problems. Clients often express relief at my advice that bankruptcy is not as bad as they imagined, and appreciation for having received the most helpful advice.
