In North Carolina, a paralegal is defined as “… a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.” Susie focuses mainly on bankruptcy work. However, she is also experienced in collection actions, decedent’s estates and civil litigation.

Susie’s duties include scheduling client appointments, assisting Robert P. Laney with client interviews, legal research, and drafting and filing various bankruptcy documents, including calculating Chapter 13 Plan payment amounts. Susie’s focus is on client services which include frequent telephone, e-mail and in-person contact with clients to gather information and documentation needed, answer client questions and to explain the process. She keeps the client informed on what to expect next.

Susie is a native of Wilkes County, NC and attended Wilkes Community College. She lives in Millers Creek, NC with her husband and two children.
